Do you live in the concrete jungle? If you look out your windows, are concrete walls and other buildings all you see? If you walk around the block, is the scenery nothing but houses, apartments, stores and businesses? It is hard to find peace in surroundings that are always noisy and busy. Getting out into nature can help you find much needed peace and quiet. A nearby park can give you a small glimpse of nature, but for the full effect you need to get out to the country.
Go by yourself, without the interruptions of others. Turn your cell phone off and start walking. You may even want to take a camera with you and take some pictures. Listen as you walk. What do you hear? Certainly not any honking horns, sirens, yelling, shouting or other loud noises.
You may hear the wind rustling in the trees, or birds singing. What do you see? You probably see a blue sky, with maybe a few clouds drifting by. It is quite different from the smoke and smog of the city. You see flowers, probably in many different colors and sizes. Sit on a log for awhile, and watch the squirrels scampering back and forth across the green carpet of a meadow.
If you look around for a few minutes, breath in the country air, and listen to the quietness of nature around you, soon the stress of life in the city will start to melt away. Notice how everything seems to be in harmony. You do not see the animals running around in a frenzy trying to get somewhere, you do not hear them yelling back and forth or honking horns at each other. You do not see them arguing or fighting or just plain being rude.
