Trumpet Vine

This is a wonderful picture of a trumpet vine, and other flowers in the yard. On the right is a red maple. You can see some branches of a mountain ash tree. There is a bird feeder that you can see as well as a bird bath. A wonder habitat for wildlife. A little information about the trumpet vine. Trumpet vines also called campsis radicans they are a lot like mint plants, because you will either love them or hate them. The blooms can come in shades of red, orange, and yellows. These flowers attract hummingbirds, bees, and wasps which are good for the garden and birds in the winter if you've left the pods on the vines. It can be used for a privacy screen. Best thing to remember even if you think its tempting don't plant up against a house or a building. They can become quite invasive. Best thing to do is plant it on a trellis or by a sidewalk or something where something will stop it from spreading. It's a beautiful plant but it does have to be maintained. The food for the hummingbirds and the birds in the winter can be very important for there food source. One thing to remember is not to fertilize the trumpet vine, it will give it lush foliage but it may not bloom at all or will bloom very little. Don't fertilize anything around the trumpet vine either where it might be able to get on the trumpet vine. Watch where you plant it and you can grow one of these also.
