Backyard Birding

Blue Jay Among Flowers

Look closely and you will see a beautiful Blue Jay on the ground. The pole you see is of a bird feeder on top of the pole. The Blue Jay is on the ground looking for seeds. If you can look closely at the picture there are violas growing on the ground. I guess you can say they look like a miniature pansy. The yellow flowers that you might be able to see I believe are Jerusalem sage. It is a shrub that have spikes of yellow flowers and arrow shaped leaves. They spread about five feet and grow about four feet tall. Look at all the different shades of green in the picture. In the shade the green is a darker green. Look at the limbs of the forsythia that is spreading down to the ground. The Blue Jays love Black Oil Sunflowers seeds. Blue Jays will show off there big size and squawk to smaller song birds because they believe the feeder is there's and all there's. They are more talk then anything else though. The smaller birds will learn to leave when they come and then come back once the Blue Jays have settled in. Blue Jays are a beautiful bird. There are different types of Jays over the United States, do research and see how nice they look as well. The Blue Jays will feed in the feeders or on the ground. See if you can find any in your yard and see how beautiful they look in various settings in your yard.
