This is a picture of Bushkill Falls in Pike County. It is located in the Pocono Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Here is where it begins, pure crystal water bubbles up in the rifts of rock. This is the start of Bushkill Creek, a lovely marsh with wild birds singing there songs. The waters begin their downward descent which goes toward the Delaware River. The water moves faster toward Fishkill Falls, it rushes over Pennell Falls, then it goes between the rocky walls that go through the Upper Canyon and Laurel Glen. The stream drops over the edge of the one hundred foot cliff, which is the Main Falls. The deep pool at the bottom which has ferns, wild flowers and mosses around it, the creek drops another seventy feet that goes through a long gorge that has huge boulders. There are all types of trails here, with wonderful views of falls and of nature. The walk can be a little taxing so be sure you are in shape. This is a beautiful place. There are eight waterfalls and they are accessible through wonderful hiking trails and bridges which gives you great views of the falls and of the surrounding forest. There's more to do here then just walk though. They have a Pennsylvania Wildlife exhibit, you can fish Twin Lakes, or visit a native American exhibit. You can visit there gift shops, even take a paddle boat ride. They even have miniature golf here. This is an excellent place to visit, you will surely get your craving for nature fulfilled here. |
