Backyard Birding

Start of a Garden

In my past posts I have a lot of started gardens when they were started and as they developed and probably more of some to post yet, I have finished gardens shown, and lots of different trees and flowers, and shrubs shown. But now starting over there are new gardens to be made, and here are two pictures of a garden in progress. Started but a long way till its finished.

You can see the white birch tree here is going to be the focal point. It's a beautiful tree, I've cut off some of the lowest branches to get light to the plants that I'm putting beneath the tree. There is junk in this garden yet as you can see which needs to be taken away yet. Lots of new dirt has to be incorporated here as well. To the left of the tree is an old ice cream maker made into a pot for flowers which were just planted here. There are some annuals I planted in front of the tree. Other parts the trees roots prohibit me from planting anything. To the right is a porch box planted with petunias and geraniums. The second picture shows how much along they have come since I planted them.

Behind this is a row of forsythias you might have seen me post when they had bloomed this springtime. We are doing a whole row of them.

Second picture is the annuals that are planted in the ice cream maker pot, see how full they are now. I don't remember the name of them, but they look like a daisy and are all colors. Doesn't look like any are in full bloom here, but you can see how they filled in. In front of the tree is one of those flowers in bloom. They look pretty when they are opened. I have pictures of them to post as well. There is a piece of drift wood on a piece of slate by the tree now which wasn't there before. It's a project of love, and it will take a while till it's completed the way we want it. But then again when is a garden ever done?

This is a nice and encouraging article. We recently relocated and are having to start over with our flower gardens. It inspired me to do a similar post. Thank you for the focus you gave us.
