Backyard Birding

Rockefeller Center

In the previous post I showed a picture of the skating rink. In that one you can see that it is encircled by the flags of all nations. The statue that oversees the skating rink is Paul Manship's golden statue Prometheus. The statue is breathtaking.

The lights that surround the statue make it an awesome sight at night. The fountains behind the stature is a wonderful light display as well.

A little about Prometheus, he was the Titan god of forethought and was said to have brought fire to man. You can read more about that on the Internet, if you are into mythology.

It is a beautiful statue and the lights at night enhance it even more.

There is a lot of shopping in this area. As well as Radio City Music Hall, and NBC studios. The concourse is below by the skating rink where there is shopping and restaurants. Just in this area of midtown Manhattan there is a lot to see and do.

If you ever get to New York City this area is one you definitely would want to go and experience for yourself. If you have more time then just a day or two, you would want to visit all the other fine points of New York City as well.

This definitely would be a worthwhile part of NYC to visit. I can just imagine the skaters on the rink and the beautiful illumination from lights and of fountains. Thank you for some insight into this spot.
