Isn't this picture of the dolphins swimming just spectacular? The color of the water is magnificent. I really love the way this picture came out. This was at Sea World in Orlando,Fl. In the year of 2000.
Here are some dolphin facts that you may or may not have known. The dolphins are unlike and other mammal babies. The dolphin babies are born tail first. The mother will stay with her calf for two to three years. They have very little sense of smell. Also the dolphins are like cows, they have two stomachs. One stomach is for storing food, and the other is for digesting the food. Here is a fact that I didn't know, some dolphins have been known to dive as deep as 1,000 feet. Here is something I found quite interesting the dolphins dorsal fins is as distinctive as a persons face.
In the wild dolphins can live up to 50 years although the average age is 17 years in the wild. Some dolphins can hold their breath for up to 30 minutes while others have to breathe every 20 seconds. That is quite a difference. There are so many interesting things about these mammals. When dolphins jump out of the water they have been noted to jump as high as 20 feet. There is a lot to know about these mammals. They are very interesting to watch in the water and to learn about them. |
