This piece I found to be very informative. It tells us the different parts a serious hot rod engine would have. It informs us that hot rods have been around for over forty years. It tells us about rebuilds. It goes on to tell us some of the most popular types of hot rod cars. The article goes on to tell us if you are planning on rebuilding an engine what types of tools you should have to take apart and what kind you would need to put back together. Even what you should have if your going to rebuild more then just one engine. Great article to read. Lots of information.
Here is a favorite of ours at Longwood Gardens. The lilypad ponds are so magnificent and so beautiful. The first Lilypad in my photograph is a huge one with the sides turned up, these really catch my eye and my heart, I love these big ones. If you look at them close and see all the intricate patterns they have on them it is simply amazing. The second picture I have is of the big ones and the smaller lilypads, and some flowers that are in bloom. Very beautiful and relaxing just to sit and look at them. Something about these plants keep me coming back each time we visit Longwood Gardens. The third picture is of different lilypads and in the background you can see some of the plantings that they have planted around the lily pond. I just loved being able to have caught some of the background flowers in with the lilies. I have some more to post in a later post of more lily flowers. I hope you have enjoyed these pictures as much as I have enjoyed seeing them again this year and taking pictures of them. If your in the area and have not yet visited these gardens you simply must take the time to do so. Maybe on a day when they will have fireworks as well at night, as we had done the one year.
Here are some photos of dragonflies or damselflies. I'm fascinated by these wonderful insects. There is quite a few different kinds. There are about 316 dragonflies and 131 damselflies in the United States. They come in different sizes and colors. Since I'm drawn to color perhaps their colors is what fascinates me about them. But I hope you enjoy the pictures that I've taken of them at Longwood Gardens. The first picture is one on a sign for the waterlily. The second picture is of one on a waterlily flower beginning to open. The third picture is of one on a bud of the waterlily. Both the dragonfly and the damselfly belong to a different suborder. The suborder of the damselflies means equal winged, which by the photos these might be damselflies. There are quite a few differences between the two so by reading the differences I would conclude that this one has some similarities of both. But whichever one it is, I like them both because I have probably seen both already and didn't know the differences. You might let me know what they are if you know for sure. They will be around any water area you might have, and they eat a lot of other insects that may not be wanted in your garden. A water feature just might bring them around.
This is just an amazing article for those of us that love the great outdoors and hiking. It goes on and on about different hiking trails in Oklahoma. For a little taste of the article here are a couple of the names of the hiking trails: Old Two Toes Trail, Little Black Bear Trail. It tells us that this place has 12 different ecosystems. It goes on to tell us all the different places trails are at. So pretty much whatever your hiking preference is in woods, near water and so on you will probably be able to find it here, and even try out trails you might not have otherwise tried. It tells us about caves that are here too. Get your hiking gear ready and have some fun this summer.
Here is a picture I found of our American Eskimo from the winter time. Flash Back time for all of you out there perhaps getting tired of the heat of the summer. Remember what this was like having to bundle up to go outside. Of course if you take a look at his picture he looks like he is all ready to play in all that snow. So have fun with this flash back of the winter and know it is on its way so enjoy each day as it comes. Enjoy your summer because it will not be here much longer. But of course I'm speaking of the parts of the world that have four seasons, not all parts have that. For us that do enjoy this summer, it has been a wonderful summer so far. If you get tired of the heat just come and look at this flash back and maybe it will get you back into the summer mode once again. I know I'm looking forward to the rest of my summer. Our dogs now know when we start packing up the car it's time to go to the camper and when we leave them outside they will take a quick bathroom break and jump into the car. Have a Happy rest of the summer and Enjoy.
